And to top the day off I even managed to catch my PB chub of 4lb4oz, I can honestly say it was ...

After the huge success of this years fishing Festival we can confirm that we will be making this an annual event.

The 2009 event will be held over the weekend of the 6th and 7th of June and will broadly be run in the same way as this years event.

It will be held again at the Manderson Trust lakes between Cambridge and Huntingdon, which is a fully accessible fishery.

Julz and Michael were both fishing pure carp tactics behind their buzzers and I put out a carp rod and was fishing the pole.

All afternoon we caught nothing but as evening started coming on Julz caught the first fish a lovely common of 6lb 1oz

Less than an hour later she had another common of 6lb 12oz

And shortly after a mirror of 7lb 6oz

The grayling, or "Lady of the Stream" is a beautiful fish, keen to feed on cold days and a marvellous fighter, so much so that the return of a grayling to the water takes time as they often come to the net exhausted.

So we had a late start, knowing it was a frosty night I did not feel the need to get there at daft o'clock, and we set off to the local canal to hunt some tiddlers for points.

We arrived at about 10 am and found the canal still a sheet of ice, the hills near by still ...

Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm a newbie round here so go gently with me

I already know Mike and Claudia and I met a few of their friends on the Gloucester canal going back a while.

Who's idea was it to have so many emoticons?

Eat your heart out Popey

Is there a gallery on here to put pics in?

A dirty weekend with Sabrina

Claudia and I had a couple of days off around this weekend and had planned to visit Dicky and Jim on the river Severn. The plan was for me to do a bit of Barbel fishing, Claudia was after Zander and possibly a Barbel.

We set of Friday morning and took a leisurely drive to the Severn, we arrived at the tackle shop to get our tickets only to find Jim and Paul in there, so after tips were gathered and the last few essentials purchased, it was off to the river, ...

Also know "Cakey" and one or two others, mainly by reputation, but lets not get too involved there!

As for me, I've still to land my first Catfish but have managed to net a few other species every now and then

Happy to help anyone with any information, tips and to spread the word about our great sport.

It is a little book shelf which can sit beside her armchair or sofa holding both her books and her cup of tea

I was very pleased with the result, and I'm sure my late Grandfather who taught me wood work would have been pleased with it too, especially as I made it out of an old pallet broken up.

They state that red is not carried through water, so red line will be visible close up, just not at distance.

makes a bit of a mockery of the Matt Hayes comment that fish cannot see red, and his red fishing line business.

maybe now we see why red maggots work for coarse fishing.

my first thoughts were wow what a massive boat, but having a closer look I could see it was made rather well, and liked the design, it looked heavy, but was quite light, and had places to hang your hooks, and for a fish finder if needed, its smooth exterior was nice, and the name was moulded into its sides.

This is not a starters tip.

When we fish lakes and rivers, we often see carp that we have caught with deep sores on thier flanks and underbelly. These can be caused by a number of ways, Most often caused by spawning, attack by predators, anglers, scratching on sharp objects and some bacterial infections, the biggest cause is stress. If left untreated they most often can turn into an ulcer which after some time may well kill the fish, once the wound is deep enough the fish absorbs water and ...
